0400 Hours: Depart from your hotel or residence in Nairobi (with a picnic lunch box) by road to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
0900 Hours: Arrive at the Maasai Mara. The drive from Nairobi is approximately 5 hours (270 km). Game drives will begin upon entry through the Sekenani Gate. The Maasai Mara is renowned for offering countless opportunities to spot Africa’s famous Big Five: Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino, and Lion. It’s also famous for the annual wildebeest migration.
The Maasai Mara is home to a vast variety of wildlife, including zebras, antelopes, gnus, Oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles, and many others. It hosts the largest concentration of African lions, including the iconic black-maned lion. Bird enthusiasts will find the Mara a paradise, with more than 400 species recorded, including birds of prey.
